Winchester for example started making lever action rifles in the mid 1800’s that revolutionized rifles by making the “repeater” the rifle of choice. In just a few years rifles went from single shot percussion, to the “trap door” to the Henry and the Spencer to the ‘66 with a lot of the changes being the product of the Civil War era and the necessity for more firepower. Winchesters model 1873 lever action was genius…an improved version of the ‘66 chambering the same calibers as Col. Colts famous Single Action Army revolver; meaning that you only needed on cartridge belt to supply both your lever action rifle and your six-shooter.
Immediately after the 1873, Winchester recognized a demand for a rifle to handle larger calibers, then smoother and smaller actions then to the bolt action similar to what Paul Mauser had designed; thus the models 54 and 70.
I can go on and on about how different rifle types and styles were just improvements on the previous model and types but I will stop here and just say that I like rifles, albeit some more that others, but I appreciate them all.
Because of that , in my listings you will see fine examples of all types of rifles
